Apart from Ngawang Jamphel and Kencho Tobgay, Ngawang Dhendup will have a full side to pick from as the team prepares to welcome yet another newcomer Gelephu FC.
With the absence of our long time number one who continue to recover from the allergy he suffered, Karma S Tenzin will likely be the first choice. His top form racked up four clean-sheets in six start for reds last season. Apart from the clinical finish by Gomo FC, Karma, who just turned 20 this month, was left unthreatened almost the whole time on the opening day.
Another big miss is Kencho Tobgay as he most probably will not be involved for the second consecutive game with a bad back. The goal machine contributed 10 goals and one assist in 11 appearances in his first season for Thimphu City.
Ngawang will however have about a week’s time to assess the two players.
The Opponent
Despite being a debutant, champions of Sarpang D-League are no short of talents with their attack line led by 21 year old former red Ngawang Tamang. Ngawang assisted Gelephu’s all important maiden goal scored by Sanjay Rai to lead against Rinpung in less than five minutes into the game. The team also boasts players such as Tshering Tobgay who was an integral part of FC Tertons championship winning campaign.
The two teams, having never met each other before, will lock horns on June 03 at Changlimithang.
