Thimphu City and Paro FC settles for a draw as captain Tshering Dorji finds the net for the third time this season.
With Transport United moving three points clear last weekend, Ngawang’s team had no margin for mistake if they hoped to reclaim the lead. Despite a few notable opportunities, both teams went into the halftime break failing to convert any chances.
Phub Thinley’s 48th minute goal looked likely to give Paro FC the win late until Orgyen Wangchuk’s well-taken low cross found Tshering Dorji unmarked inside the box. Thimphu City once again depended on its skipper to equalize in the 84th minute. Talking about the game Ngawang said that Paro’s high-pressing made it difficult for his boys to break their defence. “Anyway we have one point and we will be looking to coming up better in the away game.” said the boss.
A draw in the end puts City into second place, two points adrift new league leaders and above tonight’s rival on goal difference.
