Ngawang Dhendup and his boys registered their fifth win in a row as the Cityzens beat Tensung FC 2-1 at home.
As predicted, TCFC put up a dominant performance, but they were forced to work even harder to break the tie. The opponents were adamant about keeping the league leaders at bay, effectively absorbing all of the onslaught with ease. Boys in red made several shots but it took a poor interception by Tensung’s goalkeeper, Kezang, to break the deadlock just before halftime. An awkward attempt to stop Dawa’s cross ended up in the feet of Karma Shedrup at a point blank distance, unmarked from the goal.
Chutur’s powerful volley was excellently blocked by the goalkeeper in the second half, but it dropped directly into Nima Tshering, who only had to tap it in to insure the lead. Tensung did manage to sneak one back through Thinley after the regulation time, but it was too little too late for the soldiers.
The result marks the lowest-scoring game in the City–Tensung series but the boys from the capital maintained 100% record over their opponents. With one game extra played Thimphu City has created a three-point gap over their closest title rival. TCFC are now on a 29-game goal-scoring streak in a domestic league since losing 0-1 to Paro FC in season 2019.
